The stage for our Kyoto Social Apartment is right in front of the world heritage site "Nijo Castle". Nijo Castle is reknown landmark built in the Edo period by Ieyasu Tokugawa. In recent years, the "Flower Experience Art Exhibition", an event that makes full use of nighttime lighting and projection mapping has gained popularity here. The property is in a quiet residential area, one block away from Horikawa-dori, a main street facing Nijo Castle. The length of the moat surrounding Nijo Castle is about 2km. With wide open roads, this is a popular running-course by avid joggers.

The closest station「Nijo Station」, located in central Kyoto is a lively station. Right in front of the station you will find a commercial building with a movie theatre, gym, pharmacy, supermarket and more inside. The area is a popular place for family outings.

Hop on the train from Nijo Station and easily access some of the most popular destinations in Kyoto. Kyoto station is only a 6-minute ride, the tourist favorite Arashiyama area is only a 10-minute train ride away. Want to head downtown for some city-life? Karasuma / Kawaramachi area is but a short 4-minute train commute, or a 10-minute bicycle ride away.

When you’ve had enough of work and the city-life, quickly make yourself to Arashiyama on a whim. If you’re craving something social, why not invite some of your neighbors for a walk down to Kawaramachi for a night out. A staple facility that can be expected out of a Social Apartment is the「Working Lounge」. Of the 50 and counting Social Apartments, many of the properties provide facilities for work and study. Although demand for working spaces have risen due to the rising numbers of remote workers, our working facilities still experience a lower rate of use in the later hours of the day.

To counteract that, the working lounge in our Kyoto property was designed with the change of time throughout the day in mind. Like changing clothes to match the occasion and time, the working lounge changes its atmosphere for a 24-hour lifestyle experience.

For the daytime, the working lounge can be utilized as a space for an exchange of opinions and conversations with fellow tenants from different professions. During the evening, the working space changes to an area for sharing hobbies and interests, a space for more creative and relaxed forms of communication and working. The working lounge makes its transition from a workspace to a lounge-space, with the automatic change in the lighting in the lounge along with the setting sun. Setting the tone with the expression of light, this space transforms from a workspace to a lounge space with the transition of day to night.

Take your shoes off, kick-back and relax unlike any workspace you are used to. Turn on the projector in the evening and turn the space into a home theater and enjoy a movie while working? For those conscious of posture and health, we have provided a standing table for a workstation that can be utilized as a bar counter at night. We've taken the literal definition of 'Work hard, play hard' and made it into a spatial reality.

As always, the attraction of a Social Apartment doesn’t end with the working lounge. The beautifully designed main lounge at the property faces Nijo-Jo castle, ample natural lighting illuminates the space throughout the day. Through the open windows, enjoy views of the park-side sakura trees, a view that lets you know the seasonal changes with the change in foliage.

In the spacious lounge, enjoy the tranquility of time. Passing conversations among friends while preparing meals on the counter kitchen, kicking back on the sofa in front of the television space, find yourself in the box-seats for a cozy seating of 1 or 2 people. A sense of openness and freedom can be enjoyed at the large dining table stationed near open windows. Numerous power outlets are located close by to each seating area. For those who utilize many devices throughout the day, you will be happy to find your devices easily charged and ready to go.

Head on up to the 6th floor to access the rooftop and enjoy the views of the surrounding area. The rooftop at this property is located at a higher point than other buildings within the neighborhood, giving unobstructed views. A rooftop that allows you to enjoy the open breeze while taking in the scenery of Kyoto, we are sure that this will be a favorite space among tenants for barbecues and summer night drinks.
