Appetizer – Chili con carne with tortilla chips Why did we order the Chili Con Carne? I don’t know, it said it was good! It is kind of different and it sounds kind of Mexican, I think it is right? I think it is, how did you find it? Was it spicy? It was good, not too spicy and better than what I expected! I really liked that they put chickpeas in it, it’s not really what you find in a normal chili. It was actually so good that I didn’t want to eat too much of it before the main dishes came. Main – Summer Vegetable Risotto with Prosciutto and Chinese Style Bamboo and Shrimp So, you ordered the Summer Vegetable Risotto, did it taste like summer? I really liked it! It was not too heavy, and it was refreshing. I liked that they put prosciutto on top, it was a very nice balanced dish. It was delicious! Was there anything else on the menu you wanted to try? I really wanted to try dessert, but I was too full by the end! There was a frozen tiramisu for the weekly special and I wanted to try it, I’ll have to go again. Christine enjoying a relaxed lunch! How did you like the café and its atmosphere? I liked it! I liked that there was a lot of natural light. It makes me feel like it would be a good place to work and draw. The atmosphere was relaxed and casual, it’s the type of place you want to bring your friends and catch up! It must be really nice for people who live in the building to have such a nice café where they live, and they get to eat there for free right? Yes, for 15,000yens worth a month That would be so good, it makes me want to live here too! Thanks for having lunch at our café! Thanks for such a nice meal! Let’s take a look at some highlights of the day. The day kicked off with a short opening ceremony and introduction. Of course, we couldn’t forget to stretch! And with that, the games begin! Two courts staged the preliminaries up to the quarter-finals It wasn’t just players who were hyped, but supporters as well! Many fellow residents came out to cheer on their teams. And the First Goal is in! And many more following throughout the day! There was a wave of exhilaration as each match was so fast-paced. Finally, it is time for the last match. World Neighbors Gokokuji VS Social Apartment Hino! Players are charged up as they joke around with each other before the kick-off. Supporters watch with excitement. An action-packed match 2-2. Finally, the last goal is in as Hino players rush and cheer. With all matches at an end, it was time for the awards ceremony 2nd and 3rd Place – World Neighbors Gokokuji – Accepted by Coach Junya (not really) 15,000yen Worth of luxurious GRAPES 1st Place Hino – Accepted by SA veteran Saiki, who has lived in Hino since it first opened. They received 25,000yen prize, which they use for a celebration party at SA Hino. Win or not, there is no doubt that all participants had a great time. Here we follow Brit’s 3 day adventure at World Neighbors Gokokuji. How was your stay at World Neighbors Gokokuji? My stay at World Neighbors Gokokuji was beyond my expectations! It has everything you could ever need! Study room, common room, kitchen, showers, even a Café! I felt at home straight away! Meet any cool people? I met some of the residents in the common areas and joined in with them playing the new Nintendo Switch. I also got to participate in a shodo event to celebrate the new year! How did you find the facilities, and what was your favorite? I loved the facilities, the huge kitchen, common spaces, work space and bathrooms were amazing. I felt like I was living in luxury! I really enjoyed waking up early just to take a bath and use the beauty room (including the massage chair). Oh, and the rooftop was perfect, and has the BEST views of Tokyo, it’s really easy to get creatively inspired when you have a view like that in your own apartment block! Living in this kind of community as an artist, does it inspire you, and if so how? I think that living in this type of community would definitely inspire and fuel my creativity – diversity and connecting with people is the best thing for being creative. I loved staying and drew whilst I was there – the rooftop is perfect to look over Tokyo and watch life, the work station room in the apartment is perfect for sitting down to design and meeting lots of the people who live there, all of whom have different hobbies and jobs – are totally inspiring. What did you think of Gokokuji as a neighborhood? I really like it! It’s peaceful, but still so close to the craziness of busier neighborhoods like Ikebukuro so you can have the best of both worlds. It is super easy to get to by train, because you can walk to Gokokuji Station or Shin-Otsuka Station – both are equally as close to the apartment! Would you consider living at Social Apartment? Absolutely, I love meeting new people, but still having my own space is important to me, and the apartment is a perfect compromise for people who really want to meet new people from all different walks of life. It’s such a great varied group of people who live there, it creates a brilliantly interesting community to live within! I wouldn’t think twice about living in a place like World Neighbors – it’s amazing. Any parting words you’d like to say?
